The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Southern Kaduna Zone of Kaduna state, Ishaku Shekarau, was on Saturday attacked by thugs in Fadan Kagoma, Jema’a local government area of the state. Samuel Aruwan, the spokesperson of Kaduna State APC Campaign Council said this in a statement made available to newsmen Saturday in Kaduna.

America bans owners of Amigo supermarket, Wonderland Amusement Park over alleged terrorist activities

The United States of America has banned the owners of Nigeria’s Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland from dealing with any U.S. person. In a statement, the United States Department of Treasury said it has frozen all property and assets owned by Fauzii Fawad, Mustapha Fawaz and Abdallah Tahini.

Fuel Scarcity: Nigerian govt. to pay $30bn exchange rate differentials to marketers

The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said on Wednesday that the Federal Government had agreed to pay 30 billion dollars foreign exchange differentials owed to oil marketers. Ms. Okonjo-Iweala made this known on Wednesday in Abuja while briefing journalists after a meeting with the Central Bank, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, major oil markers and depot owners.

The Nigerian military on Monday said it has ​flushed out terrorists operating in KukawaGeri, a community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. In a tweet on it official page, the Defence Headquarters, said troops have taken control of operations in the community.

Obasanjo denies snubbing Jonathan, Shagari, other ex-Presidents

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied media reports that he deliberately arrived late at the birthday celebration of former President Shehu Shagari, after the departure of other past leaders and President Goodluck Jonathan. President Shagari’s 90th birthday was marked with an unusual fanfare Wednesday with President Jonathan and all former Nigerian leaders, except Muhammadu Buhari, in attendance.

Jonathan promises to reward soldiers fighting Boko Haram

President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday in Mubi, Adamawa State and Baga, Borno State applauded Nigerian troops for proving their mettle once again through the rapid recapture of territories formerly held by insurgents in the country’s North-Eastern states. He assured the soldiers that they wouldl be duly rewarded for their bravery and patriotic service to the nation at the successful conclusion of ongoing operations against Boko Haram.

Jonathan visits Mubi, heads to Baga

President Goodluck Jonathan has visited Mubi in Adamawa State, more than three months after Nigerian troops recaptured the town from the insurgent group, Boko Haram. The president arrived Yola international airport at about 10.45a.m. Thursday, accompanied by the Chief of Defence staff and all the service chiefs and the inspector general of police. He later travelled by helicopter to Mubi. At Mubi, Mr. Jonathan met with the Emir of Mubi, Isa Ahamadu, and the people of the area.
