2015: No space for opposition in Kaduna says Yero

Governor of Kaduna State, Ramalan Yero, yesterday told the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) to forget winning any elections in Kaduna State as the race for 2015 general elections draws nearer.
Yero made the declaration at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat when he came to  pick the nomination forms for February 28, 2015 governorship election in the state.
Former Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mallam Nasir El Rufai is being touted as the possible governorship candidate of APC for the governorship contest.
Expressing confidence on the chances of his party retaining the seat, the governor who was accompanied by his Deputy, Amb. Nuhu Bajoga, declared that the PDP will retain its dominance in the state by 2015.
Also in the entourage of the governor were the Speaker of the state assembly, Tahir Usman, and all PDP members of in the state assembly.

All the executive council members and local government chairmen (22) were also in his train.
Yero, while reacting to insinuations that he was not qualified to contest the 2015 election because he was supposed to complete the tenure of his predecessor, Patrick Yakowa, clarified that his decision to contest the election was informed by calls of people from the state, that he should seek for the mandate to run for 2015.
He said that those fanning ember of primordial sentiments don’t know that good governance knows no sentiments.
While declaring that the opposition has no structure in the Kaduna State, the governor noted that PDP is “a very united family in the state and we are very confident that in February 2015, PDP will emerge victorious at all elections in the state.
“There is no space for opposition political parties to show any force because PDP will win governorship and other elections in the state because our administration has done well in stabilising the security situation, create jobs, transformed education. PDP is formidable and powerful in the state.”
Yero, who stated that his administration has completed 70 percent of 33 road projects initiated by the former governor, late Patrick Yakowa, added that in the last 22 months, the security situation in the state has been stabilised.
He also added that his administration has transformed the education in the state which is evident in the state’s ranking as third best by West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) this year.
He noted that his administration has provided jobs for ten thousand Youths which has helped in creating wealth and containing the security challenge in the state.
