Nigeria 2015: 75 Percent of Voters Given PVCs — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said the number of registered voters who have collected their permanent voter cards now stands at 52, 233,396. The figure, being the collection rate as of Tuesday, February 17, represents 75.88 percent of the 68,833476 registered voters. The figure is a progress from 66 percent collection rate two weeks ago.

How Arik staff were caught stealing at Lagos airport – Minister

The Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, on Monday said the ministry has arrested three Arik Air staff for stealing fuel from an aircraft. Mr. Chidoka said on his official Facebook page that the trio of Blessing Dugbe, Samuel Asuquo and Isaac Ajakaiye were arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during a security patrol operation on Sunday at about around 3 a.m.

Obasanjo an embarrassment to the Military — Defence Headquarters

The Nigerian military has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an embarrassment to the force he once served, hours after Mr. Obasanjo on Monday announced his exit from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Mr. Obasanjo dumped the PDP at a dramatic event in Abeokuta, Ogun State, a move that appeared aimed at forestalling an expulsion by the party.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party has expressed sadness over former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s decision, Monday, to dump the party. Mr. Obasanjo announced his resignation from the party at a dramatic meeting where he ordered his party membership card be shredded. PDP officials had earlier condemned the act, with the secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees, Walid Jibrin, saying Mr. Obasanjo acted irresponsibly. The chairman of the board, Tony Anenih, said the former leader will not be missed by the party.
