The Nigerian Army on Friday raised alarm over plans by “some highly-placed individuals” in the North East, particularly Borno State, to sabotage military operations in the region. A statement by the army spokesman, Sani Usman, said the elite were bent on having the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists prolonged for their selfish interests.

The Nigerian Army on Thursday said it had uncovered and dismantled a well concealed fuel depot belonging to the extremist Boko Haram sect. The spokesperson for the army, Sani Usman, said this in a statement send on Thursday.

The Nigeria police has given insight into how a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, was rescued by its personnel, in an operation it said was coordinated by Inspector General Solomon Arase. Mr. Falae was abducted by unknown gunmen at his farm in Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Monday.
