An Abuja-bound Arik Air flight from Lagos was involved in a near crash yesterday evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in what a passenger told THISDAY was as a result of “control disorder” from the plane. However, an official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said no such incident was reported to the authority. The passenger, who was onboard the aircraft, said Arik Air flight Number 155 departed Lagos and was due to arrive Abuja at 6.30p.m., but could not land due to what the cabin crew described as control-disorder. He said: “There was heavy panic all the way with prayers that we survived as the entire passengers fell over each other in prayer.” The passenger added that the plane spent more than an hour in the air before it managed to land. Efforts to speak with the General Manager, Communications,  FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati, were futile as his phone line could not be reached. . Almost like everyday, most internet users gets chunks of spam messages being delivered into their inbox without their consent. And they are left with the question  "how did this [***SPAMMER***] get my email address ?" . How the sender got your email may not be issue but how often you keep exposing your email address and he/she keeps sending you that annoying crap or story line always. But sometime it is more easier to blame it on yourself due to carelessness on our own part ( I mean no offense). Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to ex-Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha has launched a platform known as the Al-Mustapha Peace, Unity and Development Initiative which he seeks to use to promote peace in Nigeria, especially in the North. The former prime suspect in the assassination case of late MKO Abiola's wife, Kudirat Abiola, who was let off the hook in June 2013, is currently on a nationwide tour soliciting the support of eminent members of the society. He was recently in Warri Delta state where he paid a courtesy call on the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. He solicited the advise of Oritsejafor on how to stop the tide of the Boko Haram in the North. He also said some people are investing in the Boko Haram insurgents and were sponsoring a propaganda against him and his current efforts.

According to an exclusive report by  E! , Katy Perry and John Mayer have split after dating on and off for almost two years. A source close to the couple told E! that Perry broke up with Mayer within the last few days. No other details about what prompted the singer's decision were forthcoming, but Mayer was noticeably absent from Perry's side on her recent trip to London and Milan. The Federal Government has increased passport fee by 50%. According to a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Operations/Passport and released a few days ago titled 'Passport Reforms', applicants will now pay N15,000 instead of N10,000. (It was officially N10,000 but we all know how much we really paid...lol) Also applicants for change of data will pay now N30,000. A newly introduced 64-page passport for frequent travelers will cost N20,000, while Passport for applicants 18 years and below will cost N8,750. It's N15,000 between 18-60 and N8,500 for people above 60 years. Female applicants, who apply for change of name as a result of marriage/divorce or deceased spouse, will pay N8,750, while processing fee for  request for change of data will cost N30,000. All payments will be made online going forward according to the circular

A Nigerian businessman has been jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty of stabbing his wife as she slept in their home. Oluwabusayo Abegunde, 38, (pictured above) stabbed his wife repeatedly with a kitchen knife after he went through her phone and discovered she was seeing someone else. Esther Abegunde, 33, told her husband of ten years that their marriage was over and moved into a spare room on February 16th 2013. Abegunde attacked her with the knife after he discovered why she wanted to leave him. Oluwabusayo stabbed Esther in the chest, arm, and punctured her left lung, according to the Manchester Evening News . Continue...
