Speaking to journalists after the meeting at the presidential villa, Mr. Obasanjo said Nigeria needed to learn how Colombia survived insurgency for more than 50 years.

Snakes washed by flood into Kanke, Kanam and other communities in Plateau have bitten more than 50 people in the last two weeks. The representative of the area at the House of Representatives, Timothy Golu, confirmed the development in Jos after visiting the victims.

Police arrest 2 suspects over FCT bombings

The Nigeria Police on Tuesday in Abuja said they arrested two suspects in connection with the October 2 bombings in Nyanya and Kuje, Abuja. Twenty persons died and 21 others were injured in the blasts in the two satellite towns. The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, who confirmed the arrest at the Conference of Senior Police Officers, said that the suspects aged 25 and 27 were from Kogi.

Nigerian troops, militants exchange fire in Kogi

Reports from Okene town in Kogi state say troops of the Nigerian Army are currently engaging some unknown gunmen. An Islamic cleric in the town told PREMIUM TIMES that the gunmen were “terrorists”. He said residents remained indoors as the clash continued. “We are presently in our houses, no any movement at all! Gun shooting everywhere!” the cleric said.
