Yola blast killed 32, injured 80 –NEMA

A bomb explosion that occurred Tuesday evening at a tipper garage market in Yola, Adamawa State, killed 32 people and injured 80 more, the National Emergency Management Agency said.
Sa’ad Bello, NEMA coordinator in Adamawa confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview on Wednesday.
The blast happened at the gate of the market close to tipper garage in the evening as traders left the market.

A PREMIUM TIMES correspondent who visited the Yola Specialist Hospital saw victims of the blast being attended to. A few others were taken to the Federal Medical Center, he said.
A police bomb squad was at the scene of the attack Wednesday morning.
Another witness, Hamid Dogo, said the suicide bomber detonated the bomb in front of a woman who sold cooked food.
“The woman and her son Chidinma died on the spot. I was part of the people that help in the victims,” he said
“The man, we suspect, was giving bean cake to almajaris and the next thing was a blast,” Mr. Hamid said.
