The Nigerian military responded with anger Thursday after its soldiers were dismissed by the defence authorities of Niger as “cowards”, in a rare public tit-for-tat between the two countries involved in the fight against extremist group, Boko Haram. Niger’s Defence Ministry had in an earlier statement said its soldiers, unlike their Nigerian counterparts, do not run away in the face of battle with Boko Haram militants. “Our soldiers are not like Nigerians. They don’t run,” the statement said.

Three thousand Nigerians have applied for the 39 available slots of the 2015 Chevening Scholarship awarded by the United Kingdom government, the country’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Pocock has said. A former ‎governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has faulted the decision of a Federal High Court in Yola to transfer the case he instituted over his impeachment by the Adamawa State House of Assembly to Abuja. The transfer was ordered by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Ibrahim Auta.
